new mix?

I saw that you took down the raw track, did you remix the old track or lay down a new one? It sounds a whole lot cleaner!

new mix

bozmix2 is the new one. I cut the muddy low end out this time. Rerecorded everything.

good stuff

sounds better every time you play it! Was your volume a little lower than the first mix? I'd like to hear it come up a bit, even if just to hear the part a little better for the purpose of the demoing. I think we need to work on developing some lead parts for the verses, I think we can get a whole lot more effective than all the whole notes that you're playing now. It'd be nice to have something with a little more movement in it; especially in the pre-chorus. But overall, it's a pleasure listening to you rock!

it sounds great boz. I don't want to be overly-critical because the recordings are just rough demos themselves, so I don't want to hold you to a higher standard. It's a great first take. I like what you're doing in the verses, and with a cleaner mix (meaning, one done in a studio) the lead guitar is going to make a nice addition to this song. I think you might be too busy in the chorus, but I love how you change up the riff going into the bridge and then doing the same thing out of the chorus tag at the end going into the guitar solo. Also, without you there I had a hard time getting a feel for how long the end of the song should be and it feels like on this demo you're just beginning to let loose and the song is already over! At the very end, the effect-sy high part you do makes it very pretty as well, but with such a rough mix everything kind of runs together. Great job! I think we need to demo this song again with a little longer of an outro so you can try out all of your tricks!

mix

I've probably listened to the version you uploaded this morning 5 times now and I'm not so sure you're being too busy in the chorus, the problem is more likely just with the mix being kind of muddy. Good stuff.

mix

Yeah I think that I have too much low end coming in on my track. I'll re-record with that cut out and see if it blends in better without getting muddy.

First Shot

I just posted my raw lead track and my own mix with the original track. The lead might be a little too loud in my mix during the verses. I might redo it because there are some delicate parts of the song that I wasn't very careful of. You can do your own mix with the raw track. I'm using Audacity for recording and mixing. If you upload it back just delete my mix. I'm diggin' this collaboration.

In my mix my lead track is -13db of the original track volume and I phased it 60% to the right to distinguish it from the rhythm guitar.
